Hi, I'm Phyllis, and I'm Wild About Natives ... plants and wildlife that is!
For as long as I can remember I've always loved nature and the outdoors, and being born and raised in southeast Florida I hold a special place for the unique flora and fauna our state has to offer.
I spent many years working in conservation, land management, and environmental education with the Florida Park Service, where I gained extensive hands-on experience in protecting and restoring natural landscapes. Through this work, I developed a deep understanding of Florida’s native and non-native plants, including the best methods for removing invasive species and replacing them with Florida-friendly and native plants. My background has given me the skills and knowledge to help create healthier ecosystems by restoring balance to our landscapes, ensuring they support local wildlife and thrive for generations to come.
My passion lies in preserving our native landscapes and restoring what has been lost to development. I believe that by bringing back these lost wild places—one yard at a time—we can create vital habitats for wildlife and reconnect people with the natural world.
My goal with Wild About Natives is to help you bring that special and unique touch of nature right to your home!
My mission is to help you create a space that compliments Florida's natural landscape by turning your yard into an inviting home for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.
